My name is Fua Pututau. I've Been at AMES since freshman year. I grew up in the Neighborhood of Rose Park. During my middle school life I began to question what high school I would be attending. My uncle recommended AMES to my parents. My parents enrolled my older brother and then that's when we all ended up coming here. They said this school would be challenging and also very helpful. Turns out it was.The high school we were suppose to attend was West High School.Growing up closer to the city we didn't come out this far. So the rides to school were long. My first year at AMES was great. I met new people and played football for Cottonwood. Having school pretty far from home was pretty cool but also had its downsides. The cool part was we were far from home not having mom or dad nearby. The downside was that being far from home meant forgetting something at home would be a hassle to pick it back up. Sophomore year came and friends came and friends left. The exciting part of this year was receiving my first scholarship offer to Oregon State University. This was huge for my family because my brother got one to the University of Utah and me getting one just meant that one less child to pay for college. Junior year came by and offers started pouring in. My family was very excited and happy as I got what I worked for. Senior year came by in a flash. After deciding whats best for me and my family I committed to the University of Utah. I can say that if I never enrolled into AMES i wouldn't be in the situation I am today. AMES was the answer to that question I had 4 years ago when a young 8th grader asked,"What high school will i go to".
